Description
A 1965 Harmony Rocket H-53 guitar body. This was a single pickup model that had the legendary "moustache" goldfoil pickup in the neck position. You can see the original holes in the neck pickup area where the pickup and surround screws were. It's a solid old body with lots of "character". I have a weakness for these old beat-up guitars. I was going to build a guitar out of it, but the neck and parts I have in mind for it are still in storage and I have too many guitar projects. Made in Chicago, USA. I figured it's getting to be Halloween season, so the orange is in vogue. I don't see any stamps or markings in the soundholes. The guitar has obviously been refinished orange. It was done many years ago and has the weathered "relic" look. The body itself is solid. The spot at the side of the cutaway was starting to come apart, but I glued it back solid (pic # 4). The input jack hole was also glued so it's solid, too (pic # 3). There appears to be some gouges in the top of the body under the paint. If you strip the orange, you may uncover some undesirable wood surfaces. You could probably give it a reasonable new finish. Imagine how cool it would be to get this guitar up and playing again after decades of neglect. There's still music to be made in this old body! Take it in your own unique direction. -Fred.
