Description
Offered here is a great looking vintage 1950s Durene Basketball Jersey tagged from Eby's Sporting Goods of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Eby's was a legendary store in Iowa for decades that went of out business in 2002. It was known to supply local sports teams, including COE college, which is located in Cedar Rapids. Because of the gold and black colors of this jersey and the high quality construction of the jersey, it's possible this jersey was made for the athletic department at the University of Iowa, which is located nearby in Iowa City. The men's varsity team wore jersey that had the name "IOWA" on them in the 1950s, but this could have been made for the freshman or junior varsity team. Or it could have been a practice jersey. Another possibility is that the jersey was used by a local high school program, including Washington or Kennedy High in Cedar Rapids; however, neither of these teams is black and gold. The closest high school program that I could identify with the right color scheme is East High in Waterloo. Regardless of the program, this is a nice vintage game used basketball item from the Midwest, a hotbed of intercollegiate basketball.Features:
