Overall, the Sun Coral is one of the easiest species of coral to keep alive being it is one of the only corals that does not share a symbiotic relationship with "zooxanthellae", which are the algae that live in most corals and supply food through photosynthesis in exchange for a home in the coral.
In contrast, Sun Coral gets all of its food by extending out its huge polyps and eating debris and extra food particles in your water (or for faster growth you can feed them fish food, mysis or brine shrimp).  Therefore, Sun Corals require NO light at all to thrive.  An advantage to the home aquarist, you are not required to have any expensive lighting systems in order for Sun Corals thrive in your tank.  These multiple attributes, in addition to their brilliant coloration and mesmerizing beauty, make the Sun Coral a must have in any aquarium. The key to keeping sun corals is placement. Make sure you place the coral in a medium to high flow area and you will have a show worthy coral for years to come!
FEEDING
We feed our sun corals frozen mysis & frozen brine shrimp; two feedings every other day is sufficient. Although you may feed them as much as you like if you want your corals to grow faster. Sun corals aren't picky eaters.

HANDLING SPECIMENS
When placing the Sun Coral in the aquarium, it must be handled on its underside, taking care to avoid contact with the polyps and upper structure. The Sun Color thrives in moderate to high water current combined with low lighting levels, as that it is a non-photosynthetic coral.
The Sun Coral also benefits from the addition of calcium, strontium, and other trace elements to the water. It is a hardy coral for the reef aquarium but is classified as moderate because of the special care that it requires.

At Sun Corals Direct, our first priority is to ensure you receive a healthy specimen with every order.  We realize, however, that we are shipping living creatures and even with our extensive quality control measures, there are exceptional circumstances when a specimen does not survive transport.  Here's what you can do to help:
Make sure your tank is stable and meets the requirements of the species.
Double check compatibility charts for the species you are ordering with all other existing species in the tank.
Carefully follow the tracking on your order so someone is available to immediately receive the package upon its arrival.
If your specimen arrives dead on arrival (DOA) or dies within 14 days of receipt of the specimen, provide a digital photograph of the specimen and contact us via the an eBay message.  The specimen should be out of the shipping bag or aquarium and photographed on a white background.
Please provide any additional information that may be pertinent.
Once we received and reviewed the information we will contact you within 24 hours to resolve the matter, either by providing you a sending you a replacement, refund or giving you store credit.
